As I chatted with our savior, the kids emptied the van of our backpacks. Grandma and Grandpa tried to figure out how this little airport shuttle to Montreal had turned into an overnight excursion at a roadside hotel north of the border. The taxi arrived, and we said an odd roadside goodbye. Packed into a cab, the kids and I settled on an optimistic view: We were only ten minutes from the airport, and it's good to get the travel challenges out of our system early. Things can only get better...
El Camino de Santiago, The Way of St. James, touted as the most popular Christian pilgrim route in the world, is a 500 mile path across northern Spain. Surviving this adventure with my three children promises to be less about spiritual enlightenment than day to day survival. Mystical mothering moments encountered along the way will be a bonus.
